Sierk Van Meeuwen was born in Vlaardingen (the Netherlands) in 1982. He studied fine arts at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and received his BFA in 2007. Since then his paintings have been exhibited in galleries, museums and art fairs. The themes he uses are mainly based on our self-obsessed generation and the consequences that comes with it. He varies with different styles, such as realism, baroque, classicism, surrealism, pop-art and magic realism, to create his own. To combine these styles there are endless possibilities for the painter to make interesting paintings. Composition and technique are inspired by the old masters. However, the subjects he paints do reflect his time.
